What to Pack for University
It can be stressful packing for uni! What should you take? What should you not take? You don’t wanna forget anything important but you also don’t want to completely overpack…
Don’t worry, the RMHub has got you back!
Clothes and Bedding
Pack everyday clothes suitable for this terms season – you don’t have to take ALL your clothes. For example, you won’t need summer wear for your first term!
You might also want to take smart clothes and also clothes that you could wear to the student union when socialising.
Don’t forget to pack clothes hangers to hang your clothes with!
You will also want to take bedding: sheets, pillow cases, duvet cover, blankets, pillows, duvets. You could also take a mattress protector if you wanted to.
All Your Techy Stuff
Don’t forget to pack your phone, laptop and any other electronic devices you own. Remember the charges too!
You may also wanna take an extension lead, USB sticks, external hard drives, a printer and share chargers!
Kitchen, Cleaning and Laundry Things
Kitchen – you kitchen essentials are: a mug, a cup, a bowl, a plate, forks, spoons and knives. You may also want to bring various cooking utensils: a saucepan, a frying pan, an open tray, tin opener, bottle opener, grater, sharp knives, peeler, oven gloves and a spectacular. It might also be helpful to buy a week worth of food to avoid having to stress about it during freshers’ week. (Most people overpack when it comes to the kitchen, remember you can buy things when you are at Uni!)
Cleaning and Laundry – you might want to take anti-bacterial spray, paper towels, anti-bac wipes and laundry detergent.
Here are some things to consider packing for your bedroom:
- Laundry Basket
- Clothes Horse
- Photos (pets, friends, family)
- Pins (lots of rooms have pin boards!)
Toiletries and Bathroom
Things to pack for your bathroom:
- Toothbrush and Toothpaste
- Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower Gel
- Hair stuff – Hard Brush, Straighteners, Hair Dryer, Hair Bands etc
- Nail clippers, Tweezers and Razors
- Small first-aid kit, including painkillers
You might want to pack some stationary for when your lectures start.
This can include: Pens, Pencils, Paper, Post-It Notes, Calculator and Ring Binders
Other Random Things
Some other random things you might want to bring: Rucksacks/bag, Cash, Umbrella, Hot Water Bottle, Board Games, Books, Some Snacks, Water Bottle, Swimming Kit, Makeup, Batteries, TV or a Games Console
